This is my 2nd tattoo. “Swim” is in reference of the song on the 2nd CD by Jack’s Mannequin. The dot of the I is an asterisk=unofficial symbol of Jack’s Mannequin. It is blue in reference of “Dark Blue” on the first CD, and I got the tattoo the day the third CD came out. It’s in Andrew McMahon’s handwriting.
Yes, I am a huge Jack’s Mannequin+Andrew McMahon fan, but this tattoo means so much more to me than that. “Swim” talks about being able to push forward through life, even during the toughest times. Andrew McMahon has always be an amazing inspiration, being a cancer survivor. He was diagnosed with leukemia when he was only 22…but one thing that kept him strong was his love for music=music is a huge part of my life and what keeps me going. Music is always there.
Dark Blue is the first song I heard from Jack’s Mannequin my freshman year of high school. I’ve realized JM has been the one consistent thing in my life the last 6 years. I have changed completely since I first started listening to Jack’s Mannequin, but there’s always a song that is relatable to any situation. The lyrics are unbelievable.
I swim to brighter days
Despite the absence of sun
Choking on salt water
I’m not giving in
This is my 5th tattoo and is the most important to me. The purple ribbon represents pancreatic which my mom was recently diagnosed with. The roman numerals represent the date she was diagnosed (10.14.2011). The birds represent hope. In honor of my mother I got this for her..to symbolize the struggles she will go through but that her strength will overcome it all.
I got this tattoo done by Daniel Bisol (Dee) from Sinister Ink 2 in San Diego, CA. This is my second time going to him and he is the best artist I’ve worked with.
I got this paper plane way back in April from my friend who’s a freelance tattoo artist for virtually free! I only had to pay her gas money for driving over my house. Pretty sweet deal! This was my 3rd one & I thought getting inked on the neck area would hurt as hell but it was actually quite enjoyable. Usually mistaken as a kite, my tattoo represents my free spirit and willingness to fly with my own wings. The broken lines also form an “8” which is my lucky number. Whatever connects to the end of the plane’s trail is yet to be determined. That’s the next project.
Thank you fyeahtattoos! Keep up the great job!
